7/17/2016 Maumee Bay Brewery Pub at the Oliver House Ghost Pepper Burger

I'm always up for a challenge and thought why not. I like Buffalo sauce and jalapeños so let's try a ghost pepper burger. The bun appeared made in the pub. It was a nice soft bun. The cheese had the ghost peppers in it. The spice of the pepper was a nice tingly burn, that left the corners of your mouth making you wonder if they were chapped. The bacon on the sandwich was delicious. It was candied or caramelized which brought a wonderful sweet to the spice. There was guacamole for the condiment. They gave a great amount of the guacamole to burger ratio.  My burgers cooked to medium, and came out just that. The burger was over taken a bit by the cheese, bacon and guacamole flavors. I took the tomato, pickles, and most of the raw onions off because of the size and many flavors of the burger.

7/1/16 Reverend's Big Budda Burger

Reverend's is in Bowling Green Ohio. It is a sports pub. The names on the menu mock different religions. I ordered the Big Budda Burger done Medium. The burger came out, and I was nervous if I would be able to put my mouth around the burger! The bun was toasted and sweet to the taste. The burger was cooked medium and lightly seasoned. The toppings were my favorite part. There were portobello mushrooms bacon, melted Queso dip and sautéed onions. The bacon was advertised to be peppered and dusted in cumin. I'm not sure I ever want bacon cooked another way. This burger is messy. I used both of my hands to hold it, and used many napkins. It was well worth it though. This might be my highest rated burger to date.

6/26/16 Beckett's Burger Bar's Philly Burger

Bowling Green, Ohio is home to Becketts Burgers. I ordered a Philly Burger done medium. The bun was perfect for the quality of the burger and was lightly toasted. The burger came back well done, which was disappointing, but it still had a pretty good flavor. I had a generous helping of green peppers, onions, and mushrooms on the burger with a slice of melted Provolone cheese. A few bites in to the burger I became a little sad. It was dryer than a burger should be. This sandwich I realized came with no sauce topping. The sandwich had a pretty good flavor but needed mayo.

6/10/16 Patty Jack's Western Burger

Patty Jack is a sports pub in Sylvania, a suburb of Toledo, Ohio. Beyond their sports spirits, they are known for their grilled cheese and the many varieties it carries. In this case, I had the Western Burger.
The toppings were a fresh onion ring, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and, because this was a grilled cheese joint, a lot of American cheese. They put on just enough sauce, had plenty of cheese, and I was impressed that it was an onion ring and not onion straws that most places do.

The Patty was not impressive. Not thick nor too thin. Bland on the flavor.

The bun was a nice, buttery sourdough. I was in heaven combined with the cheese.

5/13/16 Wendy's Double Stack

We decided to stop at Wendy's for a quick bite before grocery shopping. I ordered a double stack. The bun came nice and soft. The burger was thin and nicely seasoned. There was one piece of cheese and plenty of condiments for the size of the burger.

5/7/16 - Ralphie's Teriyaki Burger

Kristina and I visited the Findlay location for Ralphie's. One of their signature sandwiches is the Teriyaki Burger. Their sauce was a good, tangy teriyaki. It was lightly drizzled on the burger. Normally I would be diappointed, but the potency of the sauce counteracts the need for so much sauce.

The burger was just okay. No seasonings, could not taste the char. This burger really relied on the toppings and the bun for flavor.

The bun was okay as well. Just not enough to make up for the burger itself.

5/8/16 McDonald's Double Cheese Burger

We decided today we would put on a well known chain. McDonald's Cheese Burgers have a humble beginning. This isn't gourmet burger by any stretch of the imagination. For the price, however, it can satisfy a burger itch. The bun was average and thankfully not stale. The toppings were hurriedly put on, but they got it to me within a few minutes.

5/7/16 Ralphie's Queso Jalapeño Burger

We were in a hurry to get to the Captain America movies this weekend, and decided to stop for a burger before the movie. We stopped at Ralphie's in Findlay. They had several burgers on the menu. The Queso Jalapeño Burger caught my eye. I was not disappointed. The burger was on a toasted bun, and came out a perfect medium that I ordered. Warning- you should not pick up this burger to eat. It requires a fork. The amount of white melted Queso cheese dip was great. It came with a side of cheese that I happily dunked the burger in. The jalapeños were the perfect amount. There was enough to eat a slice with each bite and not be overwhelming. The burger was tender, juicy and delicious!

5/3/16 - Cracker Barrel Bacon and Cheddar Burger

A few days ago we stopped at Cracker Barrel with a friend. I ordered the Bacon and Cheddar Burger. I love Cracker Barrel, but don't recall ordering a burger from there before. This review is on the Findlay, Ohio store location. The bun was soft and not toasted. It complimented the burger well the cheese was thick Colby jack and had reached a perfect melted softness. The bacon was extra crispy which did not compliment the burger. The tomato and lettuce was fresh and crisp. I did ask for extra mayonnaise, because they did not have enough on the sandwich. I ordered my burger medium well, and it was completely well done. I did not hold it against them too much though because the burger was juicy!

5/1/16 - Happy Daz Texas BBQ and Bacon

The Texas BBQ and Bacon burger, optional single or double patty, came with American cheese, onion rings, strips of bacon, dressings of barbeque sauce, lettuce and tomato. I ordered mine with two patties and no lettuce and no tomato.

The bacon was cooked perfectly...not fall apart crispy and not raw. The onion rings were not overly big nor was there too many on there. The breading was just right to compliment the burger, as well. The barbeque sauce was a plenty, but wasn't dripping off the burger. A good combination. What my heartache was about was the cheese. They put one slice in between the patties...fine...then they carelessly laid the other one on top of the rest of the toppings as if they forgot the other slice was to go on there. But if that was my complaint thus far...

The burger patties were good. Not top of the line, but not bad either. A nice juicy burger that wasn't flavorless and dull. The bun was for their signature burgers and it wasn't bad either, but wasn't something extraordinary.

5/1/16 - Happy Daz A1 Mushroom & Swiss

Today we visited Happy Daz in Lima and I ordered the A1 Mushroom and Swiss burger. This is a signature dish for Happy Daz. The bun was OK, nothing to exciting, but nothing bad about it either. The burger was the same us the bun. The seasoning of the meat was lacking and left much to be desired. The toppings were probably the best part of the burger. The mushrooms were nice and salty. The onions were sweet and caramalized. I liked that they were not crunchy. The A1 was in a sauce packet, so you could put on as much or as little as you would like. The cheese fit the burger; although I would have preferred a second piece of cheese, as the plain hamburger meat needed something else. Overall this is an average burger that can satisfy both the taste buds and the wallet at $5.99.

4/29/16 - superSONIC Double Cheeseburger

I stopped over at Sonic before going back to the hotel and ordered a superSONIC double cheeseburger. They offer lettuce, tomato, pickles, and your choice of ketchup, mustard and mayo as toppings. I just ordered ketchup and mustard only. And that is what I was given. The burger was bland...like it was defrosted and cooked. The bun was okay. Nothing special.

4/29/16- SmashBurger- BBQ Cheddar

Kristina and I went to SmashBurger for the first time. Both of us got the BBQ Cheddar burger. This single-patty burger was overloaded with onion straws and underloaded with barbeque sauce. It was served on an evenly-toasted egg bun, which was quite tasty. The burger itself was not bad.

For a chain, I am not impressed. They tried to fluff the burger with a filler of onion straws and didn't put much of barbeque on the burger, an item that is IN THE NAME. And for the price of the burger ($6.59), I can easily get a double-patty burger with some better quality.
