Perrysburgers' Kobe Beef Burger

We heard about this place a few years ago and decided to stop by for National Cheeseburger Day. Perrysburgers is located in Downtown Perrysburg. It's a relaxed  dining setting. The staff was very friendly and Tuesdays are Family Night, so we got 25% off of our bill. They also have all you can eat french fries.

The Kobe beef burger is a 1/2 pound patty of 100% New Zealand Kobe beef. It is topped with a garlic puree, 4 mushroom blend, onions, and bleu cheese crumbles. It is served on a buttered bun.

The bun was delicious, light and held in the toppings. It paired with the burger nicely. It was was a good bread to beef ratio.

The toppings are almost as good as the patty. The mushroom blend added a great earthly flavor and didn't feel like they were just pulled out of a can. The garlic puree was strong enough to cut through the bleu cheese crumbles. The bleu cheese crumbles were there but not overwhelming like some bleu cheeses.

The patty was so tender and juicy. It was seasoned well and was cooked to perfection. This is a patty I will definitely want to eat again! It was like eating steak and melted in your mouth.

This burger should come with a knife, fork, and napkins warning. Burgers like this don't come around often. If you don't eat it with a knife and fork, be sure to get several paper towels off the roll before starting because if is a 2 hands needed burger.

Fast Friday: The Impossible Whopper

We are in an obscure time where people want to taste red meat but not actually eat the red meat. With the increasing demand, Burger King jumped on the opportunity to make a red meat burger that does not actually have meat in it. And thus we are presented with The Impossible Whopper.

This burger is exactly like a standard Whopper: same toppings and same bun...just a different patty. The patty is a charbroiled plant based patty. And despite that difference, it tastes exactly like the Whopper. It may perhaps have more charbroiled flavor on it than normal, but it is a near perfect replica of it's red meat counterpart.

I've had other red meat alternative patties...this one surpasses everyone. They did something that was...well... impossible. I will be having this again.

Try it and try it again!

The Gathering's Sliders

RateABurger has been to most places in Findlay, Ohio. The Gathering in downtown Findlay is one of the last stops. They offer a set of sliders with smoked provolone and a carmelized onion marmalade on a pretzel bun.

The patty was unfortunate. It is a trait to offer a well done burger while keeping the juices and it's tenderness. The Gathering delivered on well done, but failed to keep the patty from pulling like rubber. The patty also didn't have any additional seasonings to make up for it.

Patty Score: 2

The toppings were well. The provolone was a compliment to the pretzel bun as the flavors did not fight. The marmalade was a nice addition and helps make up for the flavorless patties.

Toppings Score: 7

The bun was a pretzel bun. On paper, a slider pretzel bun seems like a good idea. A problem with pretzel bun in general is how dry and hard a bun can be. A smaller version make it about inedible. That is the case in this scenario.

Bun Score: 2

I wanted to like these sliders, but it just fell short completely.

Overall: 3
